Ability Awareness Program
This program encourages children to become more aware of the abilities of people with disabilities.

Accessibility Project
SOCIL conducts assessments, evaluations and reports utilizing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for businesses, government and agencies. SOCIL will provide technical assistance, explanation of requirement and recommended solutions to compliance issues.

Adaptive Sports
Do you have cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida or some other disability that affects your lower and /or upper extremities? Come try our adaptive sports programs. These include football, basketball, boccia, and track and field. These sports are for individuals who have disabilities that keep them out of traditional sports programs. Everyone must play in a wheelchair and sportschairs are available.

Advocacy Training
SOCIL staff will provide information and/or support to train individuals in the proper steps of self advocacy, community advocacy and system advocacy.

Assistive Devices
Staff assists consumers by providing information and referral regarding various assistive devices and will assist individuals with disabilities in applying to Assistive Technology of Ohio (AT Ohio) for refurbished computers.

Boardmaker
SOCIL has the Boardmaker software available to parents and teachers that will assist them with making talking books, behavior supports, schedules, reward charts, practice lessons and more for their children/students.

Buckeye Card
Any Ohio resident age 18-59, who has a total and permanent disability and is unable to work, is eligible for a card. It provides savings on prescriptions as well as purchases at local merchants. SOCIL has applications available and will guide you in its submission.

Computer Resource Center
Basic computer training will be provided by volunteers and/or SOCIL staff.

Consumer Forums
We at SOCIL open our doors, eyes, ears and minds to our consumers on a daily basis; however we encourage ALL consumers and/or any interested people in the community to come to the SOCIL office for Consumer Forums. This is your opportunity to let us know what needs and/or wants you have. This is the consumer’s time to speak up and be heard.
